Enjoy this slice of musical nostalgia and social history! a fascinating glimpse of music making spanning from the dark, uncertain middle war years through to victory and beyond. 50 examples of bands and ensembles who brought pleasure to many in the nine years covered by these recordings (1941-1950). CD1 is made up of recordings made in the middle war years (1941 / 1942), and our three entertainers are Joe Loss, Nat Gonella and Harry Roy - with their respective aggregations. All of these recordings were made at the Green's Playhouse, Glasgow - a venue fondly remembered by many - and which flourished from it's opening in 1927 until it's unfortunate, but inevitable, closure in 1973. CD 2 covers the years 1944 to 1950, and features popular bands and vocalists of the time who played residencies at the locations shown.
